Application Procedure

The academic year is divided into two semesters. The first semester starts in September or October, and the second semester starts in February.

Entry requirements to study in Italy include:

  • Bachelor’s Program: You need to have completed upper secondary education, have a valid school leaving certificate, and qualify for higher education in your home country. Since undergraduate courses are taught in Italian, you must demonstrate proficiency in the language.
  • Master’s Programs: You need a relevant Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification. You will also need to take a recognized English language test such as TOEFL or IELTS.

Education System

Italian universities are among the oldest in the world. Higher education exams are mainly oral and take place after the teaching period. In 1999, Italy reformed its education system based on the Bologna Process, introducing a 3-cycle system:

Visa

After being accepted into a university, students receive a letter of acceptance, which is required for the visa application. Students must apply for a visa at the Italian embassy or consulate in their home country. It is recommended to schedule a visa interview about four to six weeks in advance. Students should apply for a student visa at least three months before their arrival in Italy. The processing time for the visa application can take between 1 to 3 weeks.
